Pinion Insurance Unveils Sarrus, a Proprietary Data Interchange Platform
Purpose-built platform to replace the fragmented, outmoded data exchange predominant in the MGA sector with daily portfolio visibility and audit-ready reporting for MGAs and reinsurers.
London. 23rd July, 2026.
Pinion Insurance, a newly formed specialty insurance carrier incorporated in Bermuda and headquartered in London, today launched Sarrus, an upgraded, fully-integrated proprietary technology platform. Poised to transform the insurance sector, Sarrus enables partnership with Managing General Agents (MGAs) and reinsurers by digitizing the flow of data and information from the MGA into the carrier, superseding the fragmented, manual and spreadsheet-led data exchanges of the past.
Built without the constraints of legacy insurance infrastructure, Sarrus operates earlier in the data chain by connecting directly with any source systems and creating a secure, automated and standardized flow of operational and risk data between the company, MGAs and reinsurers. Sarrus is equipped to deal with any system of record the MGAs utilize. The platform is designed to improve data quality at the source and give users faster access to consistent, auditable information.
“Insurance is entering a period of technological change, and Sarrus reflects what we can build as a new entrant, not simply by digitizing existing technology, but by shaping a more open, efficient and collaborative insurance market and helping move the industry forward,” said Laura Baird, Pinion’s Group Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder. “This launch isn’t about building another proprietary platform for its own sake. Rather, it’s about creating efficiencies that lower operating costs and allow us to share more of the value we create across the insurance ecosystem.”
For MGAs, Sarrus reduces the time and expense associated with manual bordereaux production, spreadsheet exchanges and repeated data validation, allowing teams to spend more time on execution. Sarrus creates the month end bordereau, removing this operational burden from the MGAs. For reinsurers, the platform provides faster access to clean, auditable portfolio information. By reducing operational friction across the value chain, Pinion aims to create efficiencies that lower its own cost base and allow the company to share more of that value with its partners, rather than simply capturing the benefit for itself. Pinion launched in February, its founders known for their mastery of data and analytics in the MGA sector. The launch of Sarrus marks Pinion’s inaugural step in using that expertise to create a secure, automated and standardized information flow.
“With Sarrus, we have created a repeatable data layer that can connect to multiple source systems, extract operational and risk data, cleanse and standardise that data, and make it available to authorised participants in a reliable and timely format,” said Ying Gong, Pinion’s Head of Data and Analytics. “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to design this product around the future state of the market rather than retrofitting technology onto legacy operating models.”
Today, the MGA sector’s processes create inconsistent data formats, require duplicated validation work, and suffer from poor auditability, reporting delays and a high risk of human error.
“The key to Sarrus lies in its digitalized data flows with market participants’ source systems,” said Philip Vandoninck, Pinion’s Chief Underwriting Officer and Co-Founder. “Sarrus routes data through a controlled data service centre, applies automated cleansing and transformation, and then provides standardised outputs through dashboards, analytics tools and controlled data-sharing mechanisms. We have prioritised our investment in this platform, ahead of launching the insurance company so that we can reduce costs and deliver a better service to all our partners from the outset. For MGAs, Sarrus will result in a faster than market onboarding period.”
By improving data integrity, consistency and transparency, Sarrus offers a scalable insurance data interchange capability – a system that can ingest heterogeneous data from different market participants, map it into common structures, validate it, cleanse it, preserve lineage and auditability, and enable near real-time sharing of trusted information.
Pinion is currently seeking multi-jurisdictional licences in the U.S., UK, and the European Union and a rating from AM Best. For the U.S., nationwide E&S licenses will be obtained through the acquisition of an identified shell company, subject to parent state regulatory approval. The company is targeting binding business in the United States first, with an expected launch in Q3 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
